I've been taking a lot of flower photos recently with my macro lens. I love all the fiddly detail in flowers - especially like those in the buds below (the red isn't part of the flower - they are the leaves).

Almost there

I was particularly happy with this soft rose show. It was a handheld walk-by snap and I thought nothing more of it until I saw it on the computer. Check out that depth of field! And none of the tiny beetles or bugs or spider webs that I seem to capture in all my other shots.

It hasn't been all flowers though: I've been on a leaf binge too!

Again, if I can smoosh the focus a bit across the image I think it creates interest - some bits are in focus, some bits aren't. I took the photograph above with the sun behind the leaf and it has left me with a washed out green which I find quite appealing.

Great shots - I particularly like the purple feathers. A great job with the depth of field in all these!

Thanks for the comment. I'm particularly fond of shallow depth of field, especially on subjects like flowers where there can be lots of "noise" in the background. I think the purple flowers are actually a weed, but they are quite cool anyway.
